How to Praise
AUDIBLY,
Psa. 66:8 - Make His praise to be heard, Psa. 35:28 - with your
tongue and Psa. 51:51 - with the mouth. Heb. 13:15 - offer the
sacrifice of praise which is the fruit of your lips.
God wants to HEAR our praise.
WITH THE WHOLE HEART.
Psa.111:1 - I will praise the Lord with my whole heart.
Psa.138:1; 9:1-2,
Psa.103:1 ... all that is within we bless His holy name.
Psa.119:7 - I will praise thee with uprightness of heart.
What does it mean to praise the Lord with the WHOLE HEART.
The heart is the seat of ... The physical life - Acts 14:17.
Spiritual life such as Grief - John
14:1.
Joy - John 16:22.
The desires - Matt. 5:28,
Affection Luke 24:32.
Thoughts Matt. 9:4.
Understanding Matt. 13:15.
Imagination Luke 1:51.
Conscience - Acts 2:37.
Intentions - Heb. 4:12,
The Will - Rom. 6:17.
Faith - Mark 11:21.
Thus includes the Emotions, Reason and the Will.. We are to offer
Praise with all these things. With the WHOLE heart, all that is
within me ...
WITH THE SHOUT OR LOUD NOISE,
There is a place and time for the joyful noise or shout of praise.
We realise that God is not deaf but at the same time He is not
nervous.
1. Make a joyful noise (joyful means to shout) - Psa. 66:1.
2. Sing aloud unto God (make a joyful noise) unto the God of
Jacob. Psa. 66:1.
3. Let the inhabitants of the ROCK shout. We are the
inhabitant, of the Rock Christ Jesus. He is our refuge and
foundation. Isa. 42:9-12.
4. Shout unto God with the voice of Triumph. This is a victory
shout. Psa. 47:1.
5. God mourns the ceasing of the shout. Isa. 16:9-10.
6. The wine (Holy Spirit) makes us shout. Psa. 78:65.
7. Shouting for joy. Psa. 5:11; Psa. 32:11; 35:27; 132:9,16.
ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE SHOUT.
1. SHOUTING FOR DELIVERANCE from the enemies. 2 Chron.13:19,
as they shouted, God came down in the shout and smote the
enemy.
2. SHOUTING FOR RESTORATION. Ezra 3:11-15. We are in the days
of the restoration of all things therefore the shout of
praise is in order.
3. SHOUTING FOR THE GLORY CLOUD. Lev.9:23-24. God's glory
descended and appeared to all the people which caused the
people to shout.
4, SHOUTING FOR THE REMOVAL OF OBSTACLES. Jos. 6:5,16,20. As
they shouted the walls of Jericho fell and they were able to
move in and take the city. Very often we come up against
walls of opposition, difficulty, fear, pride etc., that would
come down quickly with the shout of praise.
5. SHOUTING FOR THE BATTLE. 1 Sam. 17:20,52 ... the men of Israel
and Judah arose and shouted, and pursued the
Philistines...The shout of victory while pursuing the enemy.
6. JESUS RETURNING WITH A SHOUT. 1 Thess. 4:16.
7. JESUS THE HEADSTONE COMING FORTH WITH SHOUTINGS. Zech. 4:7.
This speaks of the finishing Stone of the Temple. When the
Church has reached perfection, then the headstone Jesus,
shall come with shoutings.
WITH INSTRUMENTS.
Instruments can play a vital part in worship when played under the
anointing and inspiration of the Holy Spirit which will minister
to people.
1. PRAISE HIM. with the sound of the trumpet etc., Psa. 150:3-5;
144:9; 147:7, Here God commands those who have dedicated
their talent to the Lord to Praise Him with their
instruments.
2. PLAY SKILFULLY. Psa. 33:3 here we see God places no premium
on ignorance in the things of God and natural training in
the playing of an instrument that it might be used in
worship. Perfect the playing of your instrument by taking
lessons and practise that you may be more effective for God.
Ezek. 33:32 ... thou art as one that can play well.
3. PLAYERS ON INSTRUMENTS IN ZION. Psa. 87:7. Today the Lord is
raising up spiritual Zion (His Church) and one of the things
to be restored is praise with dedicated talent. There will
not be the element of entertainment as with natural talent,
but all music will ascend as a cloud of worship and will
blend in with the moving of God's spirit.
